Since the introduction to the appraisal rule for merchandise trading we’ve come to understand a few things regarding merchandise trading and how we have still not been able to achieve that fair balance that we as a community were hoping for. After taking in all of your feedback into consideration we’ve come to the decision to make a few amendments to our rules that will hopefully be for the better:
1. If you want to trade your Sushi Dog in exchange for merchandise or the purchase of another adopt, you must note the group first.
When noting the group you must tell us the following:
a. How you obtained the Sushi Dog. If you bought them how much did you pay?(Provide proof of payment)
b. A link to the masterlist entry (If your Sushi Dog is not on the visual masterlist over at SooshDatabase you must register your Sushi Dog for uploading before it can be approved for merch. To do so please go here.)
c. How much art you bought for the Sushi Dog, and for how much (This does not include personal art, gift art or art trades!)
2. A Sushi Dog received through zero monetary means will no longer have a base value of $0 unless they were originally obtained from a contest, raffle or free custom trade. Originally this was put into place to prevent others from profiting off of Sushi Dogs and to create a fairness within the market. It was after many appraisals did we realize we’ve made it more difficult for those who legitimately needed specific merchandise or those seeking to retire from the closed species community to trade their Sushi Dogs.
2a. A Witchpaws Sushi Dog will retain half their original monetary value in the event the appraisal value is less than their original value. To make this easier to understand consider this scenario: You receive a Sushi Dog through trade from a user that purchased it as a custom from Witchpaws in the amount of $450. Your tablet then combusts into flames and you have no means of acquiring a new one. O_O;;; Your only option is to have your Sushi Dog appraised for merchandise. You’ve paid for $15 in commissions of this Sushi Dog but nothing more. Originally the appraisal rule was you only get what you invest into your Sushi Dog but an evaluation of $15 is…ridiculous (and we whole heartedly agree). With this new rule into effect your Sushi Dog will now be appraised at half their original value of $225 since this exceeds what you’ve invested into your Sushi Dog. This still allows for your Sushi Dog to be traded for merchandise in an amount that is deemed fair and applicable to everyone who receives this Sushi Dog after you.
2b. A MYO Sushi Dog will retain half their original monetary value in the event the appraisal value is less than their original value. This is essentially the same situation as above but unfortunately this may not work out for every MYO Sushi Dog. The prices of MYO slots over the years have varied, many of which changing hands to new owners three or four times making it very difficult to find the original owner of the slot. If a MYO Sushi Dog owner is unable to find the original owner’s proof of purchase they will be unable to benefit from this rule in the event they are appraised for less. This is why we strongly suggest saving approvals, proofs of slot purchases, etc. even after they are uploaded to the master list.
3. You are required to show a screenshot of the approved appraisal price by a moderator in your trading/selling journal. We’ve already mentioned this before but this is to help members of the community feel more comfortable when going through with these trades. This also provides a means of protection to community members from scammers.
4. Shipping costs, custom fees, paypal fees, etc. are included in the total of appraisal value unless both trading parties agree to taking on the expense. We’ve had many members ask about this so we’ve decided to make a rule about it. In the event you are trading for physical goods the general rule of thumb is that any additional fees are paid at the expense of person receiving the Sushi Dog and is therefore budgeted to not exceed appraisal value. Unless the person receiving the Sushi Dog is comfortable paying whatever fees there may be outside of the appraisal value it is being enforced you remain within the appraisal value. You are not allowed to ask for an additional amount on top of what has already been appraised. There are plenty of sites that offer free international shipping, etc. after spending a certain amount so we strongly urge you to explore your options.
5. Sushi Dogs are now allowed to be traded for eGift Cards. This has been a rule under heavy debate for a while but as we’ve come to notice international merchandise trading is very difficult (especially through Amazon, Ebay, etc.). To diminish the borders we’ve decided that eGift Cards can be exchanged during a Sushi Dog trade. This will also relieve some of the stress of factoring in shipping costs, custom fees, etc. as addressed in the above rule. Remember, you have to have your Sushi Dog appraised before asking for eGift Cards!
