I think that a rotation of raffle and fcfs with a 24h beforehand announcement of the exact hour (including timezone) when the sale will happen. The (at least) 24-hour announcement should take care of the better part of the timezone issue because people who want to buy can plan accordingly, instead of waking up to an already closed sale. _{Especially for those who happen to miss it by an hour or less, it is really annoying to find out you missed a sale the 1 day you decided to sleep in or went to bed just before the journal was uploaded XD}
